BREAKING NEWS: Ronda Rousey Battered by Amanda Nunes Within 48 Seconds

Ronda Rousey, the woman who virtually put Women’s MMA on the map with her infamous arm-bar, was absolutely battered within 48 seconds last night! :(

The fight was billed as her huge comeback fight after her last devastating loss to Holly Holm combined with the time she had taken away from the Octagon to be involved in the film industry…but sadly for fan boys like me, it was not to be!

You can watch the full fight here:

Nunez – just as she was against Miesha Tate in July – was vicious from the start, and stunned Rousey with a huge right hand inside the opening 15 seconds.

BOOM. After that Ronda had no chance, succumbing to an onslaught of fast and heavy hands which were met with little resistance – a ridiculous left hook and four-punch combination followed by further punishment leaving referee, Herb Dean, little choice but to step in and rescue her.

What does this mean now for Rousey??

Her future within the Octagon is certainly in doubt. Although she is understood to have made $3 million for those 48 seconds, taking such a beating is unlikely to inspire her to get back in to fight again! If I were her I’d find comfort in making nice films instead…Entourage 2 please Ronda :)

This sentiment was followed up by Amanda Nunez in her post-fight interview:

“She’s going to retire and go to movies and make a lot of money now. Forget about Ronda Rousey”

Bit harsh, but perhaps justified given the complete lack of media attention Nunes received, despite being an absolute beast of a fighter – Rousey also refused to do media touring which was also a huge opportunity for Nunes to make her name heard.

“This is my time, Ronda Rousey did a lot for the sport and we thank her for that, but now I am champion. I loved it that they disregarded me…Ronda was never going to take this belt from me”

Twitter was obviously quick to jump on the bandwagon:

Whatever happens, Ronda has been amazing for the sport. Fair play to her.

Looks like it’s going to take a lot to stop Nunes!
