Of course, I stayed up to watch Conor McGregor destroy Nate Diaz in UFC 202. After being defeated back in March, Conor was finally able to take his revenge on Diaz within the early of hours of Sunday morning.
Throughout the build up to this fight, the pair certainly had a lot to say about each other, and also a lot of things to throw. As the judges revealed the score, McGregor said that “the king is back”- as he had won with a score of 48-47 by two judges, and 47-47 by another.
As well as gaining a sh*t tonne of pride, McGregor also received $3m in cash for winning the fight. If my maths is correct, that’s about $2,000 a second. Thankfully for Nate, he didn’t go home empty handed- as he got $2m for the fight.
As the bell rang, Conor said:
“Surprise, surprise motherfucker! The king is back. If you want the trilogy, it’s on my terms. I knew what I had to do this time around and I did it. All I know is that it’s 1-1. Let’s regroup and do it again!
This time I want to do it at 155 pounds, I came in at 170 with him as the bigger man and I overcame that adversity. Now this trilogy is on my terms, come back down to 155 and we’ll do it.”
As the fight began, McGregor was able to make the face of Nate extremely bloody. But after knocking Diaz to the ground, Conor forced him on his feet so that they could continue the fight standing up.
I can’t wait for the final fight in this trilogy. We’ll keep you updated with news as we receive it…
