Earlier today, Ronaldo’s £15m private jet crashed at Barcelona Airport whilst trying to land. Although the footballer was not on the plane at the time, it is reported that the landing gear got obliterated directly upon impact with the runway.
Once news of the incident emerged amongst airport officials, the runway was immediately shut. The Portuguese star often rents his plane out to private companies- which was the case this evening.
A statement said:
“Cristiano Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the plane. The incident had no major consequences.”
This event comes on the same day as the release of FIFA 17. Of course, Twitter had something to say:
Ronaldo's Private Plane Makes crash landing at Barcelona Airport. Thank God He and his family is save 😢🙏
