An employee at the Canada Royal Mint has reportedly stolen £100k worth of gold by shoving it up his bum…
Leston Lawrence, 35, appeared in court after a bank worker noticed that he was depositing a lot of cheques from Ottawa Gold Buyers into his account.
Over a period of time, he stuck several “gold pucks” up his bum in order to resell and make a profit. At an estimated value of £5k each, the bank worker became suspicious of the man when she noticed that he worked at The Mint.
The court heard that Lawrence had repeatedly set off the metal detector at work. But when security searched him with a wand, nothing was found. However, investigators did find a tub of vaseline in his locker.
Since the incident, he has been fired from the Canadian Mint. No surprise there.
