Rio Ferdinand just donated £500k of toys to Cash for Kids
Santa is that you?! Nope, it’s Rio Ferdinand, here to “put a smile on local kids’ faces this Christmas”.
I’ll admit, that’s not something I ever thought I’d type, but the former Manchester United and England International may have just become one of my heroes.
Rio and his restaurant, ‘Rosso’, have pledged £500,000’s worth of presents to the charity ‘Cash for Kids’ which raises funds to aid both disadvantaged and disabled children in Greater Manchester.
The charity, managed by Russell Feingold, are looking to make sure that at least 60,000 children get a present this Christmas, and the donation will go a long way to ensuring that target.

Hats off to you Rio.
If you’re like me and you don’t have £500,000 to donate, there are still numerous, and equally admirable, ways in which you can help the estimated 8 million people living in poverty in the UK this Christmas.
Many supermarkets are currently enabling customers to buy food to leave at collection for others to pick up; Age UK are looking for volunteers to call a lonely elderly person; There are local food banks in which you can serve people meals; and you can always pick up a Tea or Coffee for those out in the cold.
All in all, have an amazing Christmas…And leave some mince pies out for your boy Rio.
