Rappers often lie in the name of sounding hard.
I mean, Ol Dirty Bastard’s name was apt, but he’s not going to stick “pins in your head like a f*cking nurse”; DMX probably won’t “pluck you like a chicken wit’ your head cut off”; and Mobb Deep are hard, but I doubt they’ll “rock you in your face, stab your brain with your nose bone”. Well, they might do.
But realistically, as my man Akala says: “if as many man were dying in the streets as were dying in the booth there’d be nobody left”.
One rapper, however, has taken legitimising his gangsta rap to a new level…he has used his courtroom appearance to shoot his latest video whilst also being on house arrest!
Yes, Lil Cray, from Cleveland is currently facing charges including gang activity, gun possession, and attempted murder. Yet, for some reason, the judge allowed him to film a music video in the courtroom.
Whilst the video hasn’t been released yet, the original news story released footage of him in court:
The judge, Michael Ryan, apparently didn’t know that the video would include Lil Cray until the day of shooting (pun intended)…but nonetheless let it go ahead anyway:
“Last time I checked the Constitution, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I’m always about helping young people especially when I see that they have promise, they have talent.”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for helping young people too…but surely letting someone convicted of attempted murder use a courtroom to film a music video isn’t a great idea??
The negative media attention has kind of changed his mind a bit though:
“Probably not one of the better choices that I made, but I was trying to help.”
That shit Cray. Well, a Lil Cray.
