I have mixed feelings about this one. I mean, it’s great that athletes can be tested retrospectively, holding cheats accountable even after they think they have gotten away with it…but poor Bolt! 8 golds doesn’t have the same ring to it as 9. It’s not a triple-triple!!
Usain Bolt will have to give his 4x100m (from Beijing 2008) Gold medal back as his team mate, NestCarter, tested positive for the banned substance, Methylhexaneamine.
The Gold Medal will be passed on to Trinidad and Tobago who came Second in the race, with Japan being upgraded to Silver and Brazil getting Bronze.
Carter was also part of the squad that won the event in London 2012, and also the World Championships in 2011, 2013 and 2015!
Whilst this doesn’t detract from Bolt’s achievement for one second, it is a major blow to his flawless record.
I doubt Carter will be invited to any reunions too soon! Bolt will be fuming!
