This has gotta be the best thing I’ve heard all day.
From my experience as a meat eater, not many people are fond of vegans. I assume it’s due to their simple diet of celery and carrot sticks.
But it’s extremely surprising to hear that a country has refused a woman a passport due to the fact that she’s vegan. Well, that’s pretty much what Switzerland have just gone and done.
Nancy Holten was born in the Netherlands, but moved to Switzerland in order to start a new life. Although she has Swiss children, speaks the language, and has lived there for several decades, the Government have refused her a passport because her vegan lifestyle is “annoying.”
Known for being an
over-sensitive animal rights activist, she has recently spoken about the 5kg Cowbells that cattle have to wear around their necks. She said:
“The sound that cow bells make is a hundred decibels. It is comparable to a pneumatic drill. We also would not want such a thing hanging close to our ears.”
Fair point I guess. But as she is even trying to get rid of the local Church bells because they may harm animal’s ears, many local people are happy that her citizenship was denied.
Tanja Suter, the president of the local Swiss People’s Party, has said Ms Holten has a “big mouth” and that residents didn’t want to give her citizenship “if she annoys us and doesn’t respect our traditions.”
